fĭk-splō’zhən
noun
A small fix-it project cascades into a much bigger ordeal.
In our new house my dad helped me install a water filter under the kitchen sink, then the drain pipes from the garbage disposal came apart in his hands, without tools, so we had to replace them, and then the fittings for the water filter didn’t have the right connection and we couldn’t find the right adapter, so we had to shut off the water to the entire house and replace the valve. After seven trips to the hardware store, it finally works.
I suppose some type of ‘plosion is appropriate on July 4. Mine was a fixplosion. Happy Independence Day!
